Kelag Prize 2009

The former “Prize of the Jury” was renamed “Kelag Prize” this year. It was donated by Kärntner-Elektrizitäts Aktiengesellschaft and is worth 10,000 euros.

Markus Orths won this prize in 2008.

Last year, the prize was donated by Telekom. It went to Markus Orths for his text “Das Zimmermädchen” [The chambermaid]. His juror Strigl voted for an “exciting story” whose author narrated “furiously” from a calf-level perspective while nonetheless “depicting a full human being”.

Head of Telekom, Manfred Erian, presented Markus Orths with the 10,000 euro prize in 2008. Right in the picture, ORF regional director Willy Haslitzer.
