35th Festival of German Language Literature

The ORF Landesstudio Kärnten and the State of Klagenfurt invite you to the 35th Festival of German Language Literature from the 6th to 10th July 2011 in the ORF Theater Klagenfurt. The readings and discussions regarding the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize and four further prizes will start on Thursday, 7th July at 10:15 and end on Saturday 9th July, at 14:00. The jury will determine the winners on Sunday from 11:30.

 

Klagenfurt Adress by Urs Widmer

The Festival of German Language Literature will open on 6th July at 20:30 with the reading order draw, the 12th Klagenfurt Address for Literature by Urs Widmer and the traditional garden party.

Bachmann Prize goes Europe 

In 2011 the 14 competition texts are once again online in eight languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Slovenian, Czech and Croatian. Further details can be found at: http://bachmannpreis.eu  

 

15th Klagenfurt Literature Course

From 3rd to 6th July the 15th Klagenfurt Literature Course will take place at the Klagenfurt Musil-Haus. In addition to the non-public tutorials there is again a series of public events:

On Wednesday the 6th July from 14:00 the scholars of literature course will read in the Musil-Haus.

 

Austrian State Prize for Translators

On 3rd July the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translators will be awarded in Musil-Haus to Johann Strutz and Adan Kovacsics. This award is endowed with 8,000 Euro from the Federal Office of Translations of Austrian literature into another language and for translations into German.

Due to organisational reasons room reservations after 30th June are without exception to be addressed directly to the Klagenfurt hotels. Accreditation is of course still possible thereafter.
