“Learning about” Bachmann

All those looking to find out more about Ingeborg Bachmann can look forward to an additional programme organised by the cultural department of the city of Klagenfurt in collaboration with Klagenfurt Tourismus.

Through the provincial capital in a convertible

With “Learning about Bachmann” you take a bus provided by “Nostalgiebahnen in Kärnten” [Nostalgic Railways in Carinthia] association from Neuer Platz in Klagenfurt and visit all the places that have direct significance to Ingeborg Bachmann. The tour takes about one and a half hours and costs 5 euros per person. If the weather is nice, the trip will take place in an open-top “Nostalgie” bus.

Readings from the works of I. Bachmann

Renate Aichholzer, who is a certified tourist guide, will tell stories from the life of the writer during the literary trip. The information will be highlighted using passages from texts – for example from Bachmann’s story “Jugend in einer österreichischen Stadt” [Youth in an Austrian Town] – which will be recited by Karin Waldner-Petutschnig.
