Le prix principal de la manifestation reste le prix Ingeborg Bachmann qui est doté de 25 000 Euro. Ce prix est offert par la capitale régionale de Klagenfurt.

Rammstedt  est le gagnant du prix Bachmann

Il est étonnant de voir à quel point le jury et le public ont été unanimes dans l'attribution du prix 2008: Pour son texte - qui a pu, chose exceptionnelle, marquer des points grâce à l'humour - Tilman Ramstedt a remporté à la fois le prix Ingeborg Bachmann et le prix du public.

Après l'annonce officielle du nouveau lauréat du prix Bachmann, Rammstedt s'est trouvé entouré par les photographes.

Il a fallu trois tours de vote pour attribuer le prix Ingeborg Bachmann doté de 25 000 euros. Au premier tour, Patrick Findeis a obtenu trois voix, Orths et Rammstedt en ont obtenu deux chacun. A l'issue du ballotage entre ces derniers, c'est Tilmann Rammstedt qui a pu se réjouir d'être le nouveau lauréat du prix Bachmann.
