Gstättner's comments - Sunday 01
Now they are all gone again, only I am still here in the capital of literature. If you click on my Friday's comments, you will find that I was right in prognosticating the winner (which was not difficult)
Congratulation Tilman Rammstedt
Yesterday I even predicted who would actually be he winner. But because a prophet has no honour in his own country and my job is not to play the literature lottery, I do not want to shout my prediction from the housetops, but simply want to congratulate Tilman Rammstedt.
Texts and intellectual creatures
Yesterday I was somewhat unamiable to the jury because of a crass lapse of judgement regarding Pedro Lenz’ text. The thing is that I always think that any text could theoretically be my own. And because texts are intellectual creatures, it is incredibly important to protect them against unfair, unjust and bad treatment.
Lenz should come again
I think it is a good idea of the regional director that Pedro Lenz is invited again next year as compensation. And the jury should pass each other the collection bag and pay for a flight so that he does not have to travel another 12 hours with the train.
A fine garden party with Salettl pavilion
Today I am in a somewhat better mood. The changes have indeed proven themselves. The weather was also better than it had been for a long time and the Bachmann Prize was a fine garden party with tent, Salettl pavilion and a friendly 3sat presenter who was constantly being powdered over the 3 days but who never appeared to mind.
A monument for the winner
The Bachmann Prize in front of the studio was like Wimbledon, but without tennis and strawberries. Perhaps it would be a good idea to introduce a typical Bachmann fruit. The strawberry season is almost over, but one could take breakfast eggs, they are always in season. And in front of the stadium in Church Road stands the monument of the first winner, Fred Perry. There is still plenty of room in the ORF garden for Gerd Jonke, Tilman Rammstedt and many more …
